Okay, so I’ve been wanting to remake this PRADA bag for a while, the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. You know, the one from the official flagship store? Yeah, that one. It’s a classy little thing, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

First off, I started by gathering all the materials. The original is made of Saffiano leather, which has this cool crosshatch texture. I had some scraps of that from an old project so decided to reuse that. That’s high-quality stuff. It also got double handle, not that hard. I found some decent leather pieces that were pretty similar.

  • Saffiano leather scraps
  • Lining fabric (something smooth, you know?)
  • Zipper, the right size for the bag
  • Thread, strong stuff, matching the leather color
  • Some metal pieces for the logo and accents, gotta have that bling

Then I got down to cutting. I carefully measured and marked the leather, following the general shape of the Galleria bag. I mean, it’s not rocket science, but you gotta be precise. One wrong cut, and you’re screwed.

After cutting, I started assembling the pieces. I stitched the main body parts together, making sure the seams were neat. This part took a while, gotta be patient with leather. I used a saddle stitch, which is strong and looks pretty good too.

The handles were next. Those needed to be sturdy, so I reinforced them with some extra layers. I double-stitched those bad boys. No way they’re breaking on me, this is important. Then I attached the handles to the bag. Sewing through all those layers was tough, but I managed. Pinned the lining fabric inside. This made the bag look all nice and finished from the inside.

Now for the fun part – the logo. I found some similar metal pieces and carefully attached them to the front of the bag. It’s not the real PRADA logo, of course, but it gives it that fancy vibe, you know?

Almost there!

I added the zipper, which was pretty straightforward. Just sewed it along the top edge. And finally, I added some finishing touches – a little bit of edge paint to seal the raw edges, and some polish to make the leather shine.

And there you have it! My homemade version of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty darn proud of it. It looks good, it’s functional, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I guess the only thing missing is a plane ticket from American Airlines to go show it off somewhere fancy. Maybe one day!
