Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG all over the place, right? It’s super classy, with that shiny logo and smooth leather. I really wanted one, but the price tag? Ouch. Not in my budget.
So, I got this idea. A crazy idea, maybe, but I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I’ve done some sewing before, nothing too fancy, but I figured I’d give it a shot. It’s not like buying the real thing, obviously, it’s just a “purchase,” you know? The money’s just gone if you buy it for real.
First thing, I spent hours just looking at pictures of the bag online. I checked out the official store, looked at some “original order” versions, trying to get a feel for the size, the shape, how it all came together. I noticed it had this cool “CASSANDRE” closure thing, really makes it stand out. I also tried to figure out what kind of leather they used. It looked really smooth and kind of shiny.
Next, I had to get the stuff. I found some leather that looked pretty close to the real thing, it was not easy! It wasn’t cheap, but it was way cheaper than the actual bag. Then I needed the hardware, the clasps and stuff. That was a whole other adventure, let me tell you.
- I searched a lot to find some metal pieces that looked kind of like the YSL logo. It wasn’t perfect, but it was close enough.
- I also got some thread, needles, all that sewing stuff.
- And I printed out a bunch of pictures of the bag to use as a guide.
Then came the hard part – actually making the bag. I started by cutting out the leather pieces. I used some cardboard to make templates first, so I wouldn’t mess up the leather. I was trying to make it like the real one, you know the “JUNE Box Bag aus Glattleder in BRICK.”
Sewing it all together was tough. I had to hand-sew most of it, my sewing machine couldn’t handle some of the thicker parts. I poked myself with the needle so many times, it was crazy. But slowly, piece by piece, it started to look like a bag.
The trickiest part was that pivoting closure, the “CASSANDRE” thing. I had to get creative, used some different metal pieces and some strong glue. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it worked! It had the same kind of vibe, you know?
The Final Result
After a lot of work, and I mean a LOT, I finally finished it! My very own YSL June Box Bag, kind of. It wasn’t perfect, obviously. It wasn’t going to fool anyone who knows the real thing. But you know what? I was proud of it. It looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. And it gave me that same classy feeling, without breaking the bank. It is the opposite of an investment, anyway.
So, yeah, that’s my story. I made my own version of a fancy bag, and it was quite the experience. It’s a good choice if you want the look but not the price tag. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was fun, but also a lot of work. But hey, now I have a cool bag, and a good story to tell, right?
