Alright, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for the longest time. But those prices? Forget about it! So I thought, “Why not try making one myself?” It seemed like a crazy idea at first, but I was determined.

First, I had to figure out what this bag is really about. Turns out, it’s made of this special treated leather, they call it “Saffiano”. It’s tough, doesn’t scratch easy, and looks super classy. I did some digging and discovered that the original bag is made of like, 83 different pieces. 83! Can you believe that? I knew this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park.

I started by gathering some leather that felt similar to Saffiano – you know, tough but still kinda fancy. And I needed a bunch of other stuff, like the lining material, zippers, and some metal parts for the handles and the logo. It was like a treasure hunt, going from store to store, trying to find the right materials.

Next up, I sketched out the bag, trying to copy the design of the Galleria. I paid extra attention to the details: the two rolled top handles, the adjustable shoulder strap, and those two zip-fastening compartments. It was a lot of drawing, erasing, and drawing again. I made patterns out of paper for all the 83 pieces. Yeah, it was a lot of cutting and cursing under my breath.

  • Cutting the leather was a whole other story. I had to be super careful, ’cause one wrong cut and the whole thing could be ruined. Slow and steady, that was my motto.
  • Then came the sewing. Oh boy, the sewing. I started with the smaller pieces, the pockets and stuff. It was tricky, but I got the hang of it. Stitching the main body of the bag together was the real test. I had to make sure everything lined up perfectly.
  • Attaching the handles and the shoulder strap was another challenge. I wanted them to be strong and secure, so I spent a lot of time on those parts.

Finally, I added the finishing touches. I tried to create a logo like the enamel triangle on the real deal. And I put together an adjustable handle wrap to go with it. It was a long process, let me tell you. Days of work, some frustration, but a whole lot of learning.

After all that, I finally finished it! My very own Remake PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s not a perfect copy, not like the ones you’d see in those fancy stores, but I made it myself. It’s got its quirks, some imperfections, but I’m really proud of it. It’s a reminder that sometimes, you just gotta roll up your sleeves and make things happen!

Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely an experience. But hey, now I have a bag that’s kinda like the Prada Galleria, and I did it all on my own. And that’s pretty darn cool if you ask me.
