Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Rolex Submariner, the black one, for a while now. But, you know, the real deal is crazy expensive. So, I thought, why not try to find a really good fake one? I mean, if it looks the same, who’s gonna know, right?
First things first, I started doing some digging online. I read a bunch of stuff about what to look for in a fake Submariner. It’s actually pretty interesting. Like, the real ones, they’re a certain weight. Something around 1.57 inches or so. And they’ve got these tiny Rolex crown logos etched in a couple of places, like near the 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock positions. You need a magnifying glass to see them properly, though.
So, armed with this info, I started checking out some online sellers. I found a few that looked promising, with lots of pictures and stuff. I was mostly looking at the pictures, trying to see if I could spot those little crown logos. But honestly, it’s hard to tell from just pictures.
Then I thought, maybe I should try to find a seller in person. I went down to the local market, you know, the one where they sell all sorts of knock-off stuff. I found a couple of stalls that had watches. I asked to see a Submariner, and the guy showed me one. It looked pretty good, to be honest. It had some weight to it, felt solid.
I pulled out my phone and started comparing it to the pictures I had saved. The crown logos, they seemed to be there, but again, it’s hard to be 100% sure. I asked the guy about the weight, but he just shrugged. He probably didn’t even know what I was talking about.
Anyway, I spent a good hour checking out different watches at different stalls. Some were obviously fake, like, really bad. But some were surprisingly good. I even found one that had a box that looked like the real Rolex box. It even had a little crown logo on it!
After all that, I ended up buying one. It wasn’t cheap, but it was way cheaper than a real Submariner. It looked good, felt good, and had all the little details I was looking for.
Here’s what I checked before making my decision:
- Weight: I tried to feel if it had a substantial weight, similar to what I read about the genuine ones. It’s not easy to tell without an actual scale, but I did my best.
- Crown Logo: I looked closely for the etched crown logos near the 6 and 12 o’clock. This was tricky, but I think I saw them.
- Overall Appearance: I compared it to pictures of real Submariners online. The one I got looked pretty darn close.
- Box: It even came with a nice box that resembled the authentic one!
So yeah, I finally got my “Rolex” Submariner. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and no one’s suspected a thing. It’s a pretty sweet feeling, I gotta say. I know it’s not the real deal, but it’s close enough for me. And honestly, saving all that money feels pretty good too.
My thoughts after getting it
I’m happy with my purchase. But I realized it’s a bit of a gamble buying these things. You never really know what you’re gonna get until you have it in your hands. So, if you’re thinking about doing the same, just be prepared to do a lot of research and be ready to take a bit of a risk. You might get lucky, or you might end up with a dud. It’s all part of the game, I guess!
