Okay, so, I got this thing for watches, right? And there’s this one watch, the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G-010, that’s been on my mind. It’s a fancy one, you know, the kind you see in those glossy magazines. It looked really good to me, so I decided to remake it.
So, I started digging around. Found out it’s a 39mm case, which isn’t too big or too small. Just right, I thought. And it’s not thick, either. 9.24mm, they say. Like a pancake, almost. They call it “ultra-thin.”
Then I started looking at what makes it tick. This is where it got a bit tricky for me. It’s got this Patek Philippe Calibre 324 S C automatic movement. Sounds fancy, huh? I learned it’s made of 213 parts, and 29 jewels. And it beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. I don’t know what that means, exactly, but it sounds impressive.
I got my hands on some materials. Nothing too fancy, just stuff I could work with. I started with the case. I tried to make it 39mm, just like the real one. It was tough, I’m not gonna lie. Getting the size just right, making it look sleek and all.
- Tried to remake the case, 39mm.
- Worked on the thickness, aimed for 9.24mm.
- It was hard, I messed up a few times.
Then came the inside part, the movement. Now, I couldn’t make it exactly like the Patek Philippe one. That’s way beyond my skills. But I tried to make something that looked similar. Something that would tick, you know? I put together some parts, tried to make it look like it had those 213 parts and 29 jewels. It was more about the look than anything else.
- Tried to mimic the movement.
- Couldn’t make it exactly the same, but aimed for a similar look.
- Focused on making it tick, like a real watch.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally had something that looked like a watch. It wasn’t a Patek Philippe, not by a long shot. But it was my version of it. I called it my “Remake Patek Philippe PP Calatrava 5227G-010.”
I wore it around, showed it to some friends. They thought it was cool. They said it looked “classic,” just like the real Patek Philippe Calatrava. I guess that means I did something right.
My Remake
It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. It ticks, it tells time, and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself. It’s not as shiny or as fancy as the real Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G-010, which they say costs $546,000, but it’s got its own charm.
So, that’s my story of remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G-010. It was a fun project, something to keep me busy. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll get my hands on the real one. But for now, I’m happy with my remake.
