So, I finally decided to pull the trigger and get myself an CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”. It wasn’t exactly on my radar, but man, when I saw it, I just knew I had to have it. This isn’t just any watch, it’s a piece of history.
First off, I went to check some history about it. I found that back in 1966, there was this Speedmaster 105.012, and then they updated it to the 145.012. These were the watches that actually went to the moon! I mean, how cool is that? And the Speedmaster Professional 105.012? That’s the one Buzz Aldrin wore when he walked on the moon in ’69. This is the real deal, the original “Moonwatch”.
After I got the basic information, I started to look for a nice one. I was like, “If I’m getting a Speedmaster, it has to be the Apollo 8.” I mean, this watch is all about celebrating that mission where humans first circled the moon and saw the dark side. The Apollo 8 crew launched on December 21, 1968. So, this watch is like a tribute to that epic moment in history.
I started browsing online, looking at pictures, reading reviews, you know, the usual stuff. And then I found it. This beauty was 44.25 mm of pure awesomeness. The way they designed the movement to look like the lunar surface is just insane. And it’s skeletonized, so you can see all the gears and stuff working inside. It’s like wearing a mini moon on your wrist.

This is my first Omega, and I gotta say, I’m hooked. I’m already thinking about which one to get next. Maybe another Speedmaster, or maybe something different. Who knows? All I know is, this Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” is definitely one of my favorite things I own. It’s not just a watch, it’s a piece of history, a piece of art, and a piece of me.
